The heart sound recorder, or HSR, is a device used to monitor and document the sounds a human heart makes. An HSR is often used to test the ways that the human body responds to certain types of stress. Graphs are then compiled to determine how effective treating these types of stresses will ultimately be. A holistic chiropractor will often use this device to help its patients without administering drugs to them.

What Is Its Purpose?

How Is it Performed?

Testing with this device involves putting an HSR microphone on top of all four valves of the heart. It is strapped to the patient's chest, allowing them to remain comfortable throughout the procedure. The device records the activity taking place in each of the four valves. Each valve is recorded for a period of 15 seconds. Before it is over, patients are also tested for their pulse rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels.

Obtaining Results

When the chiropractor or other doctor gets the results of the HRS, they use this information to determine a course of treatment. A holistic doctor will provide a patient with recommendations for supplements that can treat existing problems detected by the device.
